Increasing the Hardness & Hard-Wear Performance of SPEEDLINER PRO™
Instructions for enhancing coating hardness, abrasion resistance, and long-term wear durability using aluminium oxide grit additive.
Surface & Temperature Preparation
- Prepare all areas using standard substrate preparation procedures before coating
- For grit-additive spraying, use wire-edge masking tape to prevent damage to standard tape during de-masking
- Ensure mixed coating materials are kept warm at 20°C – 26°C (68°F – 80°F) for optimal dispersion and flow
Mixing Procedure to Increase Hardness
- Add 50 ml of No.46 Aluminium Oxide Grit Additive into the 1-litre SPEEDLINER PRO™ Part A polymer tin
- Replace the screw cap and shake vigorously for 20 – 30 seconds to suspend and evenly disperse the grit
- Remove the cap again and add the Part B activator + colour pigment into the same tin
- Shake vigorously for 60 – 90 seconds to fully integrate the 2K mix with grit in suspension
- Do not allow the mix to stand – apply immediately
- Mix one can at a time only and use within 3 – 4 minutes
Note: Never mix and leave to stand. Only mix one can at a time and apply immediately.
Spraying & Application Standards
- Attach the mixed tin to an underseal/shutz-type spray gun
- Set air pressure to 5 – 6 BAR (60 – 80 PSI)
- Apply using an even side-to-side sweeping motion
- Maintain a spray distance of 12 – 14 inches from the substrate to achieve the correct texture and coverage
- Continue the process until all designated areas are fully coated
Final Handling & Performance Notes
- Enhanced hardness is achieved through the suspended aluminium oxide grit content in the 2K polymer mix
- Masking tape must be wire-edge grade when grit additives are used, to avoid tearing or damage on removal
- Coating strength and wear resistance should always be assessed based on sprayed sample behaviour, not cast/poured test data
Safety & Technical Compliance
Only use coating systems and grit additives in appropriate facilities with correct respiratory PPE and ventilation. This is a professional-use enhancement process.
