Substrate Preparation Guide for Applying SPEEDLINER PRO® Polymer Coatings
General Preparation Rules (All Substrates)
- Surfaces must be clean, dry, and structurally sound
- Remove all grease, oil, wax, dirt, loose coatings, and biological contamination
- Use Wipe Down Blend™ for surface cleaning unless stated otherwise
- Recommended abrasion level: 60 – 80 grit production paper or equivalent scuffing
- Observe all primer flash/cure times precisely before coating
- Apply coatings in suitable environmental conditions using correct PPE
Wood & Timber Surfaces
- Ensure surface is fully dry and moisture content is stable
- Clean using Wipe Down Blend™
- Do not sand or abrade
- Apply Primer AP101™ by spray, brush, or roller
- Allow 30 minutes flash dry time
- Apply SPEEDLINER PRO® coating at recommended thickness
Phenolic Ply / Trailer Board
- Abrade using a D/A sander + 60 – 80 grit paper

Poly-Ethylene & Non-Standard Plastics
Specialist primers and process validation are required.
Consult SPEEDLINER PRO® Technical Support before application. Compatibility must be verified.
Safety & Buyer Awareness
- Coating performance and warranty durability are directly tied to correct surface preparation
- Be cautious of solvent-heavy, low-cost spray liners that cure with minimal solids
- Always reference sprayed sample test data when reviewing tensile/tear strength
- Fast-cure plural systems require climate-controlled environments and professional calibration
- Use coatings only in appropriate facilities with suitable respiratory PPE
SPEEDLINER PRO® substrate preparation must be followed precisely to achieve maximum adhesion, colour stability, hygiene performance and long-term durability.
